Restart a local project service when its configuration or environment changes.
Before you start
Identify the terminal or saved script that owns the service. A browser refresh and a server restart solve different problems.
The demo server has exited after Control+C. Its Python output includes KeyboardInterrupt because the server was deliberately interrupted; Restart becomes available for the exited session.
Step by step
Read the service’s latest terminal output and note its address. Confirm it belongs to the project and working copy you intend to restart.
Select the terminal that runs the service, focus its output area, and press Control+C when the command supports interruption. Wait for the tab to show that the process has exited.
Use Restart for the exited terminal, or run the saved script or documented start command again. Watch for startup errors, dependency failures, or a changed port.
Select the current address in Preview. Reload the page once the service reports that it is ready.
Check the specific behavior that prompted the restart, rather than treating a successful startup line as proof that the issue is fixed.
What to expect
One intended service instance is running and Preview points to its current address.
Troubleshooting and useful details
A Python development server may print KeyboardInterrupt after Control+C; in that case it reflects the requested interruption. If a port remains occupied, identify the owning process before terminating anything. Do not stop unrelated system processes. If the service starts on another port, update the selected preview instead of repeatedly refreshing the old address.
