Visual answers: explore data and compare designs

Visual answers turn an agent’s response into something you can explore or choose from, directly in Choro. Use them to compare projects in a table, inspect a trend in a chart, or choose between real design examples.
They work with Codex and Claude in your existing conversation.
Ask for a visual answer
Describe what you want to understand or compare. Your agent can choose a visual answer when it would be useful, or you can ask for one directly.
For example:
“Using sample data, compare six projects by owner, status, and open issues.”
“Using sample data, show daily signups for two products over 14 days.”
“Show me four visual variations of a Create project button.”
“Compare two hero sections for a project-management landing page.”
You do not need a special command or exact wording. For a more explicit request, say “show this as an interactive table” or “give me visual options to choose from.” Simple questions can still receive ordinary text answers.
Sample data is fictional. Ask for it when you want to try the feature without connecting an account.
Choices and questions: beside the composer
When the agent presents visual alternatives that need your choice, the answer opens above the composer. Examples include button styles, hero sections, and page layouts.
Select an option to mark the direction you prefer. Selecting alone does not send a message or apply a change.
To continue:
Click Use this style to send your selected direction to the agent.
While the choice is open, type a refinement in the composer and send it, such as “Make the selected direction rounder and quieter.”
Add any notes before sending so the agent has your preferences.
The agent continues in the conversation’s current mode. In Plan mode, it continues planning.
Comparisons adapt to the space available. Smaller designs can sit side by side; larger designs may stack. Tall previews can scroll inside their cards. Use Expand to inspect them with more room.
Keep the choice nearby, or leave it for later
The attached choice is shown in the composer’s Band/context row:
Hide collapses the panel and lets you send ordinary chat messages. The choice stays in the row.
Open shows the attached choice again.
× detaches the choice from the composer. The answer, your selection, and notes remain in its conversation card.
To return to a detached answer, find its card in the conversation and click Open visual answer. A new revision published by the agent can attach again; detaching applies to the revision you left.
Informational answers: in the conversation
Tables, charts, and summary metrics appear in the agent conversation when they are for reading and exploration. They leave the composer available for ordinary messages.
Depending on the result, you can:
Search or sort a table.
Inspect chart values and show or hide series.
Open a chart’s underlying data.
Expand the result for a larger view.
Searching, sorting, scrolling, toggling a series, or selecting a design stays local. These actions do not start another agent turn.
To ask for a change, send a follow-up such as “Focus that chart on the last seven days.” The agent can revise the existing answer with the new view or data.
Check the source labels, units, and time range when reading analytics. Missing values stay missing rather than becoming zero.
Expand, return, and keep your place
Expand enlarges the same answer within the workspace. While the agent is idle, Escape returns an expanded answer to its docked position. For an open choice panel, another Escape hides the choice and returns you to ordinary chat.
While the agent is working, Escape keeps the normal stop behavior: the first press requests a stop, and a second press while it is stopping force-stops the work.
Your unfinished selections, notes, filters, and preview scroll positions are saved across chat switches and restarts. An expanded answer returns docked after restarting, and Choro does not automatically submit an unfinished choice.
How Visual answers work with Preview
Preview is for your running app or website. Visual answers have their own controls and do not replace or reload Preview.
If Preview is open, a new visual answer stays collapsed. Trying to open it shows “Close Preview to open this visual answer.” Close Preview yourself, then explicitly open the answer.
Opening Preview while a visual answer is displayed saves and collapses the answer first.
If a result needs attention
If an answer is empty, incomplete, or cannot be shown, you can keep chatting and ask the agent to correct it. If Choro cannot confirm whether a choice was sent after an interruption, check the conversation before using the recovery controls. It will not resend automatically.
