Create a reusable design system
Build a shared visual foundation for one or more Studio designs.
Last updated 23 September 2026
A Studio design system contains reusable tokens, component recipes, fonts, and source notes. A project can have several systems, such as separate foundations for a customer app and an internal tool.
Create a system
Open Design → Design systems and choose New system.
Enter its name and platform. Describe the visual direction or relevant project source in the starting-point field.
Choose Create system. New systems start as empty drafts rather than inheriting a generic palette.
Use Build with agent to develop the draft. Ask for the colors, typography, spacing, and component patterns your product needs.
Inspect the specimen in the center and the grouped tokens and recipes in Library. Select a token or recipe to edit it.
Choose Review changes, then Apply system when the result is ready.
Use styles already in your code
For an existing application, choose From code in the Design systems library. Studio analyzes the project and proposes one or more systems for you to select and create as drafts. Review source evidence before treating a value as an existing product decision.
Use the applied system
Select it when creating a design or through an existing design’s Design system sidebar. Creating a system does not bind every design automatically. System actions also lets you set a project default for new designs. Draft changes reach linked designs only after you review and apply them.
