Start a standalone chat with a Bandmate
Use a saved specialist directly for a focused conversation.

Use a saved specialist directly for a focused conversation.
Before you start
Choose a project and make sure the saved Bandmate is enabled and its provider is connected. Managed delegation is not required for a standalone Bandmate chat.
The new-agent composer shows Accessibility Expert selected. The draft has not been sent; you can still review the model, effort, and access.
Step by step
Open New Agent in the intended project. Type / in its empty composer and select an entry labeled Bandmates, such as Accessibility Expert. The composer shows a Bandmate chip with the selected profile.
Review the resulting model and effort. Override them for this conversation if the task needs a different compatible configuration.
Write a concrete request. A saved reviewer still needs to know what to review, which files matter, and what kind of result you want. For example: “Review the navigation in this project for keyboard access. Report issues and how to reproduce them; do not change files.”
Choose Plan when you want an approach before implementation, or the appropriate working mode for the task. Send only after reviewing the draft.
Continue the conversation directly with that specialist. Inspect its result using the same file, preview, and verification tools you would use for any other agent.
What to expect
You have a normal conversation configured with the saved specialist’s guidance. There is no separate lead coordinating a team unless you explicitly start managed delegation.
Troubleshooting and useful details
Selecting a Bandmate inside an existing conversation prepares delegation rather than creating this standalone flow. If you intended a direct specialist chat, begin from New Agent and confirm the selected project and profile before sending. If you select the wrong specialist, use Remove in the Bandmate chip and choose the intended profile before sending. Entries labeled Riff add reusable instructions; they are a different kind of slash-menu item.
