Attach reusable guidance to a saved specialist without duplicating all of its instructions.
Before you start
Open Settings → Band, edit the intended Bandmate, and switch to Skills. A skill should support the specialist’s role and fit its provider.
Choose the right guidance
Use a bundled Choro skill for a common workflow, such as reviewing requirements or inspecting accessibility. Link an installed provider skill when you already maintain that guidance in your provider setup. Link a Riff when you want to reuse instructions you maintain in Choro. Write a skill for this Bandmate when the guidance belongs specifically to its specialist role.
The Choro skills picker offers an Add action for each available skill. Return to the Bandmate’s attached list to inspect the final selection.
Step by step
Choose Add skill. Use Add a Choro skill for bundled guidance, Link an installed skill for a provider skill, or Link a Riff for reusable instructions maintained in Choro.
Read a skill before attaching it. Bundled skills can be opened with View to inspect their instructions and source information.
For custom guidance, choose Write a skill for this bandmate and describe a specific, reusable workflow. Choose Apply skill to stage it in the Bandmate draft.
Review the attached list for overlapping or conflicting instructions. A long list of skills is not automatically a better specialist.
Choose Save bandmate to persist the complete configuration. Start a suitable task and inspect whether its result follows the intended guidance.
What to expect
The saved Bandmate includes the attached guidance when used. Applying a custom skill inside the editor is an intermediate step; saving the Bandmate completes the change.
For example, a frontend specialist might need guidance about the framework used by your project and a focused accessibility review. An unrelated database workflow adds little value to a task that only changes navigation labels. Choose guidance for the work you actually intend to delegate.
Troubleshooting
Bundled skills are read-only, while custom guidance can be edited. If a linked skill is missing or incompatible, use the repair guidance. Detaching a skill changes the profile without removing its files. Cancelling the Bandmate editor discards staged changes.
