Create or customize a Bandmate

Save a specialist with a clear role, instructions, and expected result.

Before you start

Open Settings → Band. Built-in Choro profiles are editable, so you can start from an existing specialist or use the available creation action.

The Frontend Engineer profile illustrates the Overview fields. Adapt these fields to the specialist role you need.

Step by step

1. Open Settings → Band. Use search to find a related role and choose Edit, or choose New bandmate. Give the profile a name that is easy to select unambiguously, such as Accessibility Reviewer.

2. In Overview, describe when to use the Bandmate. This description should distinguish its job from other specialists in your Band.

3. Choose its provider, model, and effort. Make sure that provider is usable in your local setup.

4. Write job instructions and an expected result. For example, a reviewer should explain findings with file references and distinguish required fixes from suggestions. Keep recurring guidance in this profile and put the details of an individual assignment in its task request.

5. Open Skills to attach reusable guidance when needed, then Save the Bandmate. Review the saved list entry before starting a chat with it.

An example role

For an Accessibility Reviewer, describe when to use it as “Review the changed interface for keyboard and screen-reader access.” Its job instructions could ask it to inspect the affected flows, explain reproducible issues, and avoid changing unrelated screens. Set the expected result to a prioritized list of findings with file references and a practical way to verify each fix. Keep the requested role narrow enough that you can assess whether the result is useful.

What to expect

The saved profile is reusable for future specialist work. A new chat can override its model configuration without requiring you to rewrite the saved role. Profile edits apply to new chats and tasks. Do not assume an existing assignment has adopted instructions you changed after it started.

Troubleshooting

If edits are missing, check whether you saved the Bandmate rather than only applying a skill inside its draft. Cancel discards staged profile edits. Avoid giving multiple profiles nearly identical names when you intend to select them through natural-language delegation.
