Choose a theme, adjust panel styling, and put new conversation activity where you prefer to read it.
Before you start
Open Settings (⌘, by default), then choose Appearance. These preferences control the Choro workspace. They do not change the design of the app or website you are building.
Appearance brings theme, panel styling, and conversation layout into one settings page.
Step by step
Choose a theme card. Each card previews its own sidebar, canvas, cards, and accent colors; the selected theme shows a checkmark. Try the light theme if you prefer a bright workspace, or select a dark palette that keeps text comfortable to read.
Under Sidebar surface, choose Flat for a uniform panel or Colorful · theme cast for the theme’s accent tint at the top of each sidebar. The tint fades toward the middle of the panel.
Under Divider lines, choose Soft · fades at ends or Solid · edge to edge. This changes the thin boundaries between the sidebars, main area, and header.
Under Conversation layout, choose Classic · newest at bottom if you prefer reading the conversation toward its latest message at the bottom. Choose Top-down · newest first to place the composer first, with the latest conversation growing downward.
Close Settings and return to a conversation. Check text readability and the position of recent activity in your normal window size. Return to Appearance to adjust any choice that feels harder to follow.
What to expect
Changes are applied and saved when you select them; there is no separate Save button. You can change each preference independently and return to your previous selection at any time.
Troubleshooting and useful details
If the running app in Preview still has its original colors, that is expected: a Choro theme changes the workspace around Preview. Changing conversation layout also does not rewrite or remove your messages. If a layout feels unfamiliar, switch back to Classic and compare it in the same conversation. A theme card’s colors may look different from the currently selected workspace because each preview deliberately shows that theme’s own palette.
