Talk through your project, ask follow-up questions, and turn a discussion into a plan when you are ready.
Before you begin
Select the project you want to discuss. In Settings → Voice, install the local speech models and allow microphone access when macOS asks. A connected coding provider is needed to answer project questions.
The demo’s Voice settings show the Project Talk shortcut and local speech-model setup before installation.
Steps
Check the active project before starting. Project Talk keeps the discussion tied to that project.
Press ⌘⇧A to start Project Talk. If you changed shortcuts, find Assistant in Settings → Keyboard shortcuts; its description identifies the read-only project conversation.
Wait until Voice is ready and listening, then ask a concrete question, such as “How is navigation organized in this project?” Read the response as well as listening to any spoken feedback.
Continue with a follow-up such as “What would need to change for keyboard navigation?” Project Talk keeps context from the continuing conversation.
To turn the discussion into planned work, say “Create a plan for that” or “Create a plan for” followed by the topic. Inspect the resulting plan conversation before deciding to implement it.
End the session with ⌘⇧A again or say “Stop listening.” Check that listening has ended before moving to an unrelated conversation.
What to expect
You can explore the project without starting implementation. An explicit plan handoff creates a separate planning conversation for review.
Troubleshooting
The screenshot shows the actual Voice settings and Project Talk shortcut before speech models are installed. If Voice stays in loading or error, inspect model installation and microphone permission first. Spoken feedback can be Minimal, Balanced, All, or Off; Off does not mean the written response failed. Audio recognition runs locally, while the coding provider processes the text and project context needed for its answer.
